The Night Sings Naked
The four books of the Madrigals are presented here for soprano, flute, harp, double bass and percussion. Using this heterogeneous template, the 1968 Pulitzer Prize winner managed to create a specific sound environment for each of the twelve extracts from Lorca’s poems and other theatrical pieces (El Diván del Tamarit, Songs, Blood Wedding,…). In The Ghosts of Alhambra the Andalusian echoes resound through seven poems taken from Poema del cante jondo and thanks to the sound of the guitar, to which Lorca himself dedicated some beautiful verses.
