Esa-Pekka Salonen returns to Granada thirty years after his first visit and he does so in the company of the Philharmonia Orchestra to put the icing on the Festival cake. This tandem which has reaped the highest international praise in recent years never ceases to amaze with its refined sound and its respect for the repertoire. Their programme includes Beethoven’s Eroica, one of the most featured composers in the history of the concerts in the Alhambra, and a selection from Wagner’s The Twilight of the Gods, the last of the operas in the Ring cycle. The versatile and powerful mezzosoprano Michelle DeYoung will give voice to Brünnhilde in the Alhambra night.
