Sheherazade, Op. 35 (42 mins)

Sheherazade returns to Granada on a magical night of tribute to the music of the Alhambra Concerts of 1883. The Mariinsky Theatre Symphony Orchestra of Saint Petersburg, under its Principal Conductor Valery Gergiev, comes for the first time to the Palace of Charles V offering a journey into the best of the Russian repertoire. The first of their concerts focuses on the 20th century repertoire with works by Glinka which recall his connection to our country and his love of Spanish folklore, followed by Rimski-Korsakov’s Suite from the ballet Sheherazade de, both of which are excellent examples of the symphony music of the nationalist Russian school.
