Five Masterpieces
Saying Chopin is saying piano. Few names in the history of music have been so linked to an instrument. For the piano, the Polish composer left an impressive trail of masterpieces that still disturb and move us all. In his performance at the Granada Festival, Ivo Pogorelich has gone to the most fruitful creative period of the musician (the first half of the 1840s) to bring together five works in five different genres, all of them played by the wings of the genius. From the formal solidity of the energetic Sonata in B minor to the harmonic modernity of the Barcarolle or the Fantasy in F minor, from the tender and caressing delicacy of the Berceuse to the melancholy of the Polonaise-Fantaisie in A flat, Chopin speaks to us with the lyricism of the singer, the grace of the poet and the fantasy of the visionary.
