Delicate choreographic sensuality for The Four Seasons

The Mariinsky Theatre Ballet will present two different programmes in Granada, which display both their commitment with contemporary creation and their rich repertoire. The full length ballet The Four Seasons will star the first soiree with choreography by the young Ilya Zhivoi, supported by the Saint Petersburg company in their search for new values of academic dance. Zhivoi has conceived a neoclassical ballet rich in details, with dancers en pointe wearing costumes of a sheer tulle, wide leg extensions, high jumps and delicate sensuality. For this title, premiere in Spain, he has used the version of the English composer Max Richter on the masterpiece by Antonio Vivaldi, translating its soft electronic textures into movement. The mise-en-scène is completed with costumes in spring, summer, fall and winter colours, signed by the young Russian designer Sonya Vatayan.
