A versatile Quartet for Ligeti
Founded in Paris in 1996, the Diotima is one of the most versatile quartets in the world, capable of mastering absolutely classical programmes, with avant-garde masters from the last century, with premieres or with a combination of all of these elements together. Their debut at the Festival is included within the sessions dedicated to the centenary of the birth of the great Hungarian composer György Ligeti, by whom they will present their Quartet No. 2, which will be accompanied by one of the 20th century classics (Bartók and his Quartet No. 4, a piece divided into five movements, like Ligeti’s) and with two Spanish composers separated by several generations, Tomás Marco from Madrid and Pedro Osuna from Granada –currently living in Los Angeles–, a young triumphant in the world of cinema whose music will have the opportunity to be played here together with great names of the international chamber music repertoire.
