The Spanish Organ
A superb specialist in Bach’s music such as the Japanese Masaaki Suzuki has decided on a purely Spanish program for his concert. He will offer it on the magnificent instrument that Salvador Pabón y Valdés built in 1764 for the Collegiate Church of El Salvador and he himself moved in 1771 to its current location in the church of Santos Justo y Pastor. It will be with music by three of the great representatives of the Spanish organ school: in chronological order, the Sevillian Francisco Correa de Arauxo, for many years linked to the collegiate church of El Salvador in his hometown, although he finished his degree in Segovia; Pablo Bruna from Zaragoza, known as the blind man from Daroca, since he was born in this town and spent there virtually his entire life, achieving extraordinary fame from there; and the Valencian Juan Bautista Cabanilles, who could be considered the summit point of the whole Iberian tradition inherited from the two previous centuries.
