The Mystery of Love
Granada was one of the first places that the Hamburg Ballet travelled to the year after its director was appointed, in 1973, the American John Neumeier (Wisconsin, 1939). Now they symbolically return to that first decade of effervescence with the revival of their acclaimed dance version of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, premiered in 1977 in the German city. The Hamburg Ballet celebrates Neumeier’s 50th anniversary as head of the company, which he has endowed with personality thanks to his narrative ballets, and with international prestige due to its quality. With this fabulous fantastic comedy by Shakespeare, he underlines in his choreography the mystery of love in its myriad of manifestations, between tenderness, the erotic and the comic, by suggesting a setup where pointed shoes are used in the most hedonistic chapter.
Estimated duration: 2 hours and 30 minutes
Part I: 75 minutes / Interval / Part II: 50 minutes
