During the masterclass, in addition to the study of the works presented by the students, the teacher will transmit them some essential concepts as inheritance of oral tradition in the fields of composition and musical performance, and other keys to understand composition in the framework of the commemoration of the first Contest on Cante Jondo, which took place in 1922.

In Sotelo’s own words, he will speak about “how oral tradition teaches us  how to connect with the performers beyond the score, and to propose contemporary composers new rehearsing techniques, as well as to look over the paradigm method or path to composition” , in the line that Luigi Nono proposed to him 25 years ago, in reference to the “Art of Memory” in the cante jondo.
