Baroque Nights

The night and everything that is around it, a phenomenon of the lack of the sun king, was an inexhaustible source of expressive resources for avid Baroque writers and composers, always thirsty for scenes, motifs and environments full of affective mystery, to be able to carry out their rhetorical musical discourse in the most fascinating way possible. In this program, the Festival’s Baroque Academy will delight us, led by Carlos Mena, with baroque music by different authors who lengthen their notes as the chiaroscuro shadows of the night lengthen. They melt their harmonies as colours melt under the moon. And they temper their rhythms as the stars do in their intermittent zenith dance.
