The Viennese in Granada!

It was one of the few great orchestras in Europe that had never visited Granada but at last the legendary Vienna Philharmonic will be at the Festival. They will come under the baton of the young Swiss maestro Lorenzo Viotti, who is currently on an unstoppable ascent to success. The program brings together three big names in the international repertoire, but with works that are not too frequently heard. Although Rimsky-Korsakov's Spanish Caprice is a classic that never goes out of style due to the freshness and vigorous colour of its melodies and rhythms, Rachmaninov's The Island of the Dead is not among his most famous compositions, despite it being always one of the composer’s favourites, who premiered it in 1909 and amended it in 1930. Nor is the Seventh the most popular of Dvořák's symphonies, but the work has enough merits to compete with the Eighth and Ninth in front of the general public. In Granada they will have the extraordinary opportunity to enjoy it.
