Schiff conducts in Granada

Famous above all as a concert pianist –an aspect that he will also show in July at the Palace of Charles V– the Hungarian András Schiff is also a leading orchestra conductor. Thus in this concert with the Freixenet Orchestra of the Reina Sofía School, in which he will begin by playing solo one of those works in which he is an absolute specialist, and which is more and more rare to hear nowadays on the piano: one of Bach's original harpsichord concertos. He will continue with another 18th-century composition, one of the most well-known and appreciated trumpet concertos in the repertoire, Haydn’s. Lastly, one of Felix Mendelssohn's most popular scores will be performed, his Symphony No. 4, known as Italian because it was conceived during the Grand tour that the German maestro made through the transalpine country between 1830 and 1831, inspired by the atmosphere, the rhythms and the colours of Italy.
