Falla’s Workshop

The Orquesta Ciudad de Granada, conducted by Lucas Macías, presents a program that explores some of the milestones of European musical theatre at the turn of the twentieth century. The Intermezzo from Mascagni’s Cavalleria rusticana and the early versions of the Prelude and Death of Isolde immerse the listener in the intensity of operatic drama. At the heart of the program stands La vida breve by Manuel de Falla in its unpublished first version, an unknown score that allows for a rediscovery of the composer's creative process and his early synthesis of European lyrical tradition and folk elements. This rediscovery offers a fresh perspective on one of the fundamental operas of the Spanish repertoire, revealing structural and expressive nuances that enrich our understanding of the work and its historical context.
