Singing Schubert in a Different Way
In just a few years, the Cosmos Quartet has climbed to the top of the Spanish quartets, as it demonstrated in the two previous editions of the Festival. On this occasion, the young ensemble comes to join the Schubert Essential cycle with one of the fundamental quartets not only by the Viennese composer, but of the entire genre, No. 13, called Rosamunda due to the fact that Schubert used the music he had previously composed for a ballet with that name. That will be in the second half of the recital, since the first half is dedicated to lieder that will be sung by the soprano Katharina Konradi with arrangements for the accompanying quartet made at the time by the great Berlin maestro Aribert Reimann and now commissioned specifically for the occasion to José María Sánchez-Verdú, who will thus show another of his versatile facets as a composer.
