A Journey to the Roots and a Tribute to the Masters
The Ballet Flamenco de Andalucía leads the Gala in support of the Reina Sofía Foundation with its show Flamenco Patrimonio, created to mark fifteen years since flamenco was recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Under the artistic and choreographic direction of Patricia Guerrero, this brilliant generation of artists takes the creative reins in a work that reaffirms the Andalusian institutional company as an inexhaustible source of talent. The show, in a single piece, explores a wide range of musical styles, beginning with a first movement based in Arturo Pavón’s elegance and progressing through the depths of peteneras, romances, and verdiales rhythms. The second movement is an intimate tribute to Granada, imbuing the stage with the essence of the Albaicín and Sacromonte neighbourhoods. It culminates with a reinterpretation of Enrique Morente's artistic legacy. This production looks both to the future and to its origins, commemorating three decades since Mario Maya founded the company. It is, in essence, an emotional and creative journey through the fusion and roots of an art form that continues to thrive in its young performers.
