A Milestone of Opera
For the first time, the Granada Festival presents Giuseppe Verdi’s Aida in its entirety, in concert form, based on a recent production previously staged in Seville. Premiered in 1871, this four-act opera stands among the grand syntheses of Verdi’s theatre, with monumental elements coexisting with an intense, intimate drama marked by the conflict between love, power, and duty. The Real Orquesta Sinfónica de Sevilla and the choir of the Teatro de la Maestranza, conducted by Daniele Callegari and joined by a leading international cast of singers, bring to life a score of vast scale and expressive refinement. Stripped of scenery, the concert version highlights the musical architecture and vocal richness of a key work in the operatic repertoire, whose complete presence marks a milestone in the history of the Festival.
