In dulci jubilo
Consolidated for years as one of the leading Spanish early music ensembles in the international scene, the Accademia del Piacere arrives in Granada led by its founder, the Sevillian Fahmi Alqhai, in one of its most essential formats, the viol consort, and they do so to face an intense Bachian program. This recital is designed around the world of the Lutheran choral music, which also includes some counterpoints from The Art of Fugue and other pieces originally created for the organ. In all of them, poured into the suggestive timbral world of the violas da gamba, Bach's genius is expressed in that combination of rigorous contrapuntal science and moving emotional capacity that has turned his music into an authentic symbol of Western civilization.
