The Fantastic Spanish
After her outstanding participation in the 2020 Festival, the young Granada-born María Dueñas returns to the Palace of Charles V, now as a true international violin figure -including a contract with Deutsche Grammophon, the legendary German label. This time she will do it together with the Orquesta Nacional de España, which will be conducted for the occasion by the Colombian Andrés Orozco-Estrada, current head of the RAI Symphony Orchestra, who had never participated in the Festival before. The program is purely French, as Dueñas will play as a soloist the Spanish Symphony by Édouard Lalo, a common virtuoso work from the repertoire most loved by fans and performers, which premiered just 150 years ago, and the Fantastic Symphony by Hector Berlioz, a true orchestral monument that was ahead of its time.
