The second session of the Opera & Cinema cycle focuses on Italian verismo with Pagliacci, Leoncavallo's masterpiece, which immerses us in the intense and tragic emotions of circus artists, with a Prologue containing almost an authentic manifesto of the new verismo style. The cinematographic complement is also a luxury, The Circus (1928), Charles Chaplin's last silent film, to which the German composer Arthur Kay set music. The groups of the Youth Performers Program of the Junta de Andalucía, that is, the Orquesta Joven de Andalucía and the Youth Choir, the latter completed with the Orquesta Ciudad de Granada Choir, will be responsible for the interpretation of the program, which will have an operatic conductor, Guillermo García Calvo –from Madrid–, and a specialist in film music –particularly Chaplin– Timothy Brock.
